Perspectives on the Healing Potential of Restorative Justice Processes – Virtual Panel

Join Justice Options for Women for a virtual panel discussion with Marlee Liss, Shannon Moroney, and Bethany Knox! Participants will have an opportunity to hear about the healing potential and benefits of restorative justice from the perspective of a survivor, community member, and offender.

Meet the Panelists

Bethany Knox 

Bethany is a restorative justice practitioner and advocate that has been immersed in the field for over 10 years. She has had the privilege to both practice and advocate for restorative practice in a variety of settings from volunteering at community-based organizations, working with youth involved with crime at Community Justice Initiatives in Kitchener- Waterloo; developing Prince Edward Island’s provincial restorative justice program; and since 2018, has facilitated cases of serious and violent crime, in the Restorative Opportunities Program of Correctional Service of Canada.

Bethany is based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and is currently the Manager of Justice Innovations within the Dept. of Justice and Public Safety.

Shannon Moroney

Internationally recognized author, fearless advocate and media spokesperson, dynamic justice and mental health educator, powerful keynote speaker, transformative therapist and trauma-informed consultant dedicated to antioppressive and destigmatizing policy and practice. Indigenous allied, bilingual (English and Spanish plus conversational French), and well-travelled. Warm, creative, resilient, passionate and compassionate. Unfailingly positive in the face of adversity.

Marlee Liss

Marlee is a somatic educator, award-winning speaker, author, restorative justice advocate and lesbian Jewish feminist. She made history in the justice system when her sexual assault case became the 1st in North America to conclude with restorative justice through the courts. Since then, she has coached hundreds of women and non-binary folk in healing shame and transforming trauma. Marlee's work has been featured in Forbes, Huff Post, Buzzfeed, the Mel Robbins Show and more. As an award-winning speaker, she's delivered talks for: The US Military SAPRO, the National Restorative Justice Symposium, Fordham School of Law, the University of Toronto, the Trauma & Recovery Conference and more. Marlee was 1 of 25 survivors on an elite panel for the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence informing federal policy and her story is currently being made into a documentary directed by Kelsey Darragh.
